چکیده

Airway Assessment is essential in pre anesthetic assessment. Anticipating and preparing for difficulty airway management crucial to avoid catastrophes. Routine operative examination usually includes mouth opening dentition, Mallampati classification, thyromental distance neck movements. Neck circumference a quick bedside test determine difficult laryngoscopy. Increased tongue thickness skin epiglottis affects performance of laryngoscopy tracheal intubation increasing the risk airway. Presently there search non-invasive accurate tools overcome limitations clinical assessment tests. Ultrasonography has been evolving as useful device especially soft tissue structures anterior surface neck. Here we studied measurement ultrasound tonguethickness predictors intubation. Neck circumference to thyromental distance ratio: a new predictor of difficult intubation in obese patients.

BACKGROUND This study was performed to assess whether intubation is more difficult in obese patients and to assess the ability of a new index: the ratio of the neck circumference to thyromental distance (NC/TM), to predict difficult intubation in obese patients. METHODS The incidence of difficult tracheal intubation in 123 obese (BMI≥27.5 kg m(-2)) and 125 non-obese patients was compared. Dif...

A Comparison between Modified Mallampati Test, Thyromental Distance, Upper Lip Bite Test and Neck Circumference for Predicting Difficult Intubation

Background: Various bedside screening tests are employed for the prediction of difficult intubation. In this study, we compared 4 bedside tests viz. the Modified Mallampati Test (MMT), the Thyromental Distance (TMD) measurement, the Upper Lip Bite Test (ULBT) and the Neck Circumference (NC) measurement in terms of Sensitivity, Specificity, Positive Predictive Value and Negative Predictive Value...
